Discontinuous Continuity takes a naturally broken thread as its core element, alluding to the fragility of memory, emotion, and human relationships, as well as the irreversible traces of time. The once continuous thread, after breaking, is replaced by cold silver needles that rigidly and precisely join its severed ends. The needles are not only tools of repair but also witnesses to the rupture itself, underscoring a state of fracture, suture, and heterogeneous union. The work explores the complex relationship between “rupture” and “repair”: repair is not restoration, but rather a new mode of existence. As a symbol, the silver needle grants new life to the break while simultaneously revealing the invisibility of scars.
